How We Review Life Insurance Companies

Rating Framework

1. Financial Strength (25%) — AM Best, S&P, and Moody's ratings weighted together. We only recommend companies with AM Best A- or higher.

2. Policy Value & Pricing (25%) — Real sample quotes for a 35-year-old non-smoker ($500K / 20-year term) compared across age brackets and health classifications.

3. Application Process (20%) — No-exam availability, underwriting speed, and digital application quality.

4. Claims Experience (15%) — NAIC complaint ratio, J.D. Power scores, and real customer reviews analyzed for claim denial patterns.

5. Policy Features & Riders (15%) — Conversion options, accelerated death benefit, return of premium, and rider flexibility.

Editorial Independence

TermHaven earns referral fees from insurance companies. Our ratings are determined entirely by the criteria above.
